ArcherySetup.com is published by Cozy River Studios, an independent publisher of calculator and reference sites. We are not a bow manufacturer, a shaft manufacturer, a retailer or a pro shop, and we are not owned by one. Nobody in the archery industry pays us to place a product, and no brand gets to review a page before it goes live.
Everything on the site is written and maintained by our editorial team, working from published manufacturer specifications, industry standards, pro shop guidance and verified owner reviews. Questions, corrections and requests all go to one place: our contact page. We read every message.
Why cross-manufacturer math matters
This is the reason the site exists. Almost every arrow spine and FOC calculator you can find online is run by a shaft manufacturer, and every one of them ends with a recommendation for that manufacturer's shafts. That is not fraud, and the tools are usually competent. It is just not neutral. Two makers publish spine charts that disagree, both charts are correct for their own products, and neither one is going to tell you that a competitor's shaft is the better fit for your setup.
We do not sell shafts, so we have nothing to steer you toward. Our calculators show their formulas, state their assumptions, and are built to compare across manufacturers rather than inside one catalogue. When two options are genuinely equivalent, we say they are equivalent instead of manufacturing a winner. When the honest answer is that the upgrade will not change anything you can see downrange, we say that too.
Our editorial stance
We research, we do not test in person. We do not run a test range, we do not have a chronograph lab, and we will never claim otherwise. Our method is comparing published specifications, cross-checking them against verified owner reviews and pro shop guidance, and flagging where two spec sheets are quietly measuring different things. Any site that claims hands-on testing of forty rangefinders in a single guide is telling you a story. We would rather be trusted than sound impressive.
We recommend down as often as up. Gear guides here split picks into beginner, intermediate and expert tiers, with a real price and a real reason for each, and every guide states who should not buy the expert tier. Talking people out of an unnecessary purchase is the whole point.
Safety is not a footnote. Draw weight, arrow spine and broadhead handling carry real risk. We flag the 5 grain per pound minimum arrow weight rule wherever arrow weight appears, we say which jobs need a bow press and a professional, and we point readers to a qualified pro shop rather than pretending a web page substitutes for one. We correct things. If a number here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say what changed. Archery specifications shift as manufacturers revise products, and a reference site that never updates is a reference site that is slowly becoming wrong.

That funding never changes a recommendation. It cannot: the commission on a $70 rangefinder and a $600 one are wildly different, and we routinely tell readers to buy the cheaper one because the cheaper one is right for them. Products that are dealer-only, which covers most flagship compound bows, earn us nothing at all and we still cover them, because leaving them out would make the guidance worse.
